NAS:"Having become as much better than the angels, as He had inherited a more excellent name than they." (Hebrews. 1:4) |
"Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they." |
|
"Being made," of course, refers to His human birth. If He inherited a more excellent
name than the angels, then it makes sense that He was more excellent right from the
beginning; He could not have become more excellent than the angels. Does the
NASV express the Word of God more truthfully than the KJV? Absolutely not.
I'm not sure about the grammar in this verse of the NASV: "Having become as much better than..." When I went to school, my English teacher would have red marked that paper in a New York minute. Standards must have dropped tremendously since then. If Christ became better than the angels, then there must have been a time when He was not better than the angels. Since He is the One who created the angels, pray tell, when was He not better? As we examine more and more verses in the NASV and other modern translations, we find more and more contradictions, and more off-the-wall-nonsense. It is as if modernists march to the drum beat of a different god. |
