This one is not so damaging as it is stupid, but stupid translations have no place in the Word of God. "And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life's span? (Matthew 6:27 NASB)
This translation may sound clever to some, but the problem is, "cubit" is a measure of length, whereas life's span is measured in years.
"Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?" (Matthew 6:27 KJV)
"Stature" is the natural height of a person in an upright position. It is a linear measure of length in inches, feet, cubits, or whatever. If you try to measure life's span that way, you're either a good prospect for the funny-farm, or you're a modern Bible translator.
